Million Dollar Beach

The most popular public beach on Lake George, with a wide sandy shoreline, lifeguards on duty, and clear mountain water that stays shallow a long way out. Kids can splash in the roped swimming area while parents sit on the sand under the Adirondack peaks. There are changing rooms, showers, picnic areas with grills and volleyball courts, plus a state boat launch with an inspection and washing station alongside. Use of the beach is free and only parking is charged. Plan around the season rather than the weather: it runs roughly late May to early September, daily and daytime only, and the beach is fenced outside those hours precisely to stop people swimming with no lifeguard on duty. Turning up out of season means looking at it, not swimming in it.
