Adirondack Experience Museum

A world-class museum campus spread across 121 acres on the shore of Blue Mountain Lake that tells the story of the Adirondacks through interactive exhibits, historic buildings, and outdoor experiences. Kids love the Life in the Adirondacks exhibit, the rustic log hotel, and the working blacksmith shop. The campus includes a boathouse with historic guideboats, an indoor nature exhibit, and walking trails along the lake. Plan for at least half a day as there is far more here than you would expect.

The Wild Center

A natural history museum built right into the Adirondack forest with indoor exhibits and an outdoor Wild Walk that takes you through the treetops on elevated bridges and platforms. Kids go wild for the Wild Walk, which includes a giant spider web net you can climb on, swaying bridges between trees, and a nest you can sit in at canopy level. Inside, live animal exhibits feature river otters, fish, and turtles. The nature trails behind the museum lead to a beautiful pond. This is a must-visit for families in the Adirondacks.

Frisco Heritage Center

A charming open-air heritage park filled with restored historic buildings from Frisco’s early days including a log cabin, one-room schoolhouse, blacksmith shop, and old church. Kids love climbing around the vintage train depot and posing next to the steam locomotive and wooden caboose. The variety of textures and backdrops makes it one of the most popular spots in Frisco for senior portraits and family photos. You can get a completely different look every few steps without leaving the grounds.

Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary

A hidden gem combining an interactive nature museum with 289 acres of wildlife sanctuary. Kids can explore hands-on science exhibits inside, then hit the trails to spot native Texas wildlife. The outdoor dinosaur exhibit is a huge hit with younger explorers.
