Pretend-Play

A small, warm childrens museum a block off Broadway aimed squarely at the under-eights. Kids run a pretend diner, drive a fire truck, work a grocery checkout and build in a construction zone. There is a dedicated toddler area for crawlers and new walkers away from the bigger kids. It is genuinely small, so think ninety minutes rather than a whole day, but it is exactly the right size for a winter morning when everyone is climbing the walls. Downtown Saratoga is right outside for lunch afterwards.

Kids run a mini television studio, work in a pretend supermarket and fire station, and explore Fantastic You where they walk through an oversized model of the human body. Rainbow World covers cultures across the Pacific with costumes and homes kids can go inside. It is aimed squarely at the under-tens and is the best wet-weather option on the island for that age. Two to three hours and a short drive from Waikiki.
